Newbold maintained their great run in Midlands 1 East on Saturday, with a 20-12 win over Market Rasen & Louth. Although not one of their best performances, the result keeps Newbold third in the table. Market Rasen are 12th.

Next week Newbold travel to Matlock where another tough fixture awaits.

Old Laurentians hosted sixth-placed Ilkeston at Fenley Field, going down 15-24. OLs are still bottom of the table and travel to fourth-placed Kettering next weekend.

In Midlands 3 West (South) Rugby Lions were geared up for their trip to leaders Old Coventrians, but the weather intervened and it was called off for a waterlogged pitch. With Ledbury and Evesham winning, Old Covs dropped to third place, one place and three points ahead of Lions.

Next week Lions host sixth-placed Old Leamingtonians at Webb Ellis Road.

In the East division, Rugby St Andrews had a good win over bottom club Old Newtonians, 41-0. Next weekend they have a tough home fixture hosting leaders Oundle at John Tomalin Way.

Rugby Welsh won again, beating Copsewood 30-0. Their great series of results sees them third in the table, with Copsewood sixth. Their form will be tested next week with a trip to leaders Five Ways Old Edwardians.
